President Biden’s new $5.8 trillion budget includes higher defense spending, including aid for Ukraine. That’s $813 billion for military spending in fiscal year 2023, which begins Oct. 1, a roughly 4% increase from the $782 billion enacted for this fiscal year. Ukraine would get $682 million to help defend itself from Russia’s invasion to strengthen its security and economic interests.
